SUN Bucks: Summer Nutrition Support for Kids

SUN Bucks provides a one-time $120 benefit to help families buy groceries for each eligible school-aged child during summer break.

Most children will be automatically enrolled if they received SNAP, FITAP, KCSP, or income-based Medicaid between July 2024 and August 2025, or if they attend a school offering free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch or Breakfast Program.

Children who attend Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools will need to apply once the application becomes available this spring. Benefits will be distributed in mid-May, loaded onto existing EBT cards, or mailed on new cards in plain envelopes. Families should ensure their mailing address is current, and keep their child’s EBT card for future use.

For more information, please visit https://www.fns.usda.gov/summer/sunbucks.

September Top Tigers

September Top Tigers are Elliot Anslem, Jefferson Diaz, Keiton Theriot, Ms. Salazar, and Mr. Bailey!

6th Grade

Elliot Anslem

Respect: Elliot is respectful to staff members, always responsible with a smile and positive attitude.

7th Grade

Jefferson Diaz-Machado

Respect: Always respectful and polite.

Positive Attitude: Student is always respectful and has a positive outlook on life and school.

8th Grade

Keiton Theriot

Respect: Is always respectful and polite

Positive Attitude: Student always has a smile on her face and positive attitude.  She gives it her all every day.

Support Staff

Vilma  Salazar

Positive Attitude: Salazar is always ready to help students, teachers or in the front office.

Ownership: I love working with Mrs. Salazar in my classroom. She works hard to understand the material to make sure she is helping her students to the best of their ability. She does not do the work for them, instead she pushes them and guides them. I have seen tremendous growth in our students working with her over the past couple years.

Teacher

Jason Bailey

Responsibility: He always is willing to fill in where every needed.  Always has a positive attitude.

Mr. Bailey is always volunteering to assist or help coworkers and students.

Positive Attitude: Mr. Bailey has added to his list of responsibilities by helping coach soccer. I realize how much a soccer team means for our students, and look forward to the excitement it will bring to the culture of our school.

We would like to thank Walmart and Castalano’s for treating our Faculty Top Tigers of the Month! One Tiger Community!
